about

the way I am sick,
the flowing current,
it takes more than brains to understand,
the fear invoked by the invisible,
the glory of a stained carpet,
that hands can touch the mind translates,
when the light-bulb blows and blooms the dark,
it's riding a wave of unknown size,
that crashes me down, that raises me up,
the power in the everyday,
and every word contains a book,
the way I feel too much is the way I am sick.

these words were written on his face,
and I tried tell him that it's not a sickness,
it's the moon that flakes the varnish off your body,
but now the roof has come off and he's scared of the stars,
if you see the divinity of the moment,
you can stop remote viewing your life,
It's a helium and a prison,
that pulls you back ten years or tells you why,
the way we find the way we feel
this is the way we are sick.

“the way I am sick” is a poem which was sent to me by elliot sturdy
and which inspired the title piece.

for Johanna, because when I was sick you held me near

recorded in a church in leeds during the winter of 2001. this was my first attempt at writing pieces for a string ensemble.

the european editions included a second disc collecting all non navigators yard instrumental pieces together on an extra cd which I include here (songs 10-19)!
